The Best Robot Hoover
The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and it leaves your floors spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are great features.
Be robotic hoovers to check your robot's brushes for hair that is tangled as well as large debris and wash them if needed. Some models also self-empty their onboard dust bin into a larger bin at the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have test. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobot models (including the top choice) they utilize smart mapping technology to design precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with a feature called Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our top option. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of a room.
However, it's a good choice to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used while you're at work, or going to school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has an auto-emptying dock, however. And, if you need to, you can swap the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it easy to clean and effective at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it falls behind some competitors in terms of deep cleaning.
This high-performing mop and vacuum combination makes use of advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste, and it will learn the layout of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.
It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a carpeted room which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete an entire home, and it did so with only 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a good job cleaning a range of floors and rooms that had various flooring types, such as certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With a sleek circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba rather than the compact models This mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive looking models in our reviews. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also the most intelligent. It has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads autonomously).
It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully self-refill and empty its base station, and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with an intuitive mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's still quite loud, which can be an issue if you use it in the morning before work or in the evening as you try to sleep.
It's also quite expensive, but it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however it will cost you more and make more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features that let you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its competitors with premium features. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, though this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and could be confused with obstructions or power cords.
Its vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house in accordance with the degree of dirt they are.
For bigger homes it's recommended to choose a model with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a particular area of your house via the app or voice controls. A stair mode can be useful if you have a lot furniture. Also a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue where it left off is ideal for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than the price suggests. It is a great job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to set up a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas for better performance. The app also gives access to a host of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also set up a spot cleaning that intensely cleans a localized area.
robot vacuum cleaner amazon RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble adorable eyes. It is great at vacuuming, however it is more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums we've test. It also has an app that's not as intuitive, and a smaller base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
